Occupational Therapy (OT) helps children and young people take part in the everyday activities that matter to them - from playing and getting dressed to handwriting, joining in at school and managing emotions.

WHAT IS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Our Occupational Therapist takes a holistic approach, looking at the child as a whole and considering how their motor skills, sensory processing, emotional regulation, environment and daily routines all work together.
The aim is to understand what might be getting in the way and identify practical ways to support success and participation in everyday life - at home, at school and in the community.
We recognise that every child is unique. We build on strengths, support participation, and help children develop the skills they need to thrive.
We work collaboratively with families, schools and other professionals, so support extends far beyond the clinic.
HOW OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY CAN HELP
Have sensory processing differences, or seem overwhelmed by everyday sensory experiences.
Struggle to regulate their emotions, or find transitions and change difficult to manage.
Find dressing, eating, toileting or other self-care tasks difficult.
Have difficulties with fine motor skills, handwriting or using tools.
Appear clumsy, or find coordination activities challenging.
Struggle to participate fully at home, school or in the community, and need support to build confidence and independence.

ASSESSMENTS
Assessments are tailored to each child and provide a detailed understanding of their strengths, needs and everyday functioning. Following assessment, families receive practical recommendations that can be used at home and in school.
We also offer sensory-based and sensory integration assessments to help understand how a child’s sensory differences may be affecting their daily life, learning, participation and wellbeing. More about sensory integration →
